Bahrain country pickup
Best for: Several Manama, heritage and south-island stops
Use the exact airport or city branch stated in the voucher.
Bahrain car hire can begin at Bahrain International Airport for a wider island itinerary or later from a city branch after a Manama stay. Airport rental desks are in the public ground-floor Arrivals area opposite Gates 1 and 2. SIXT’s BAH branch uses that car-rental area, with vehicles in car park level 1 near letters E and F and the same parking area for return. A short Manama stay may be easier by airport taxi, while a car helps link the capital, Bahrain Fort, Riffa and other island stops. Saudi causeway travel needs a separate supplier decision; SIXT’s Bahrain terms prohibit cross-border rentals.

Search starts at Bahrain, with the same return location and BHD as the requested currency. Check the exact branch, collection instructions and full conditions in the selected offer.

Best for: Several Manama, heritage and south-island stops
Use the exact airport or city branch stated in the voucher.
Selected city branches and collection arrangements. Check current hours and availability before booking. Your selected offer and voucher identify the booked branch.
Return to the same garage zone; its Bahrain terms prohibit cross-border rentals.
The desk and vehicle are in different parts of the airport.
After baggage, use the public ground-floor Arrivals rental area. The airport hosts several brands with differing hours and payment methods; only the operator named on your booking can release the vehicle. For a SIXT booking, the counter is in that rental area. Keep the flight number and local contact available if landing late, and verify any extra driver or child seat before signing. A 24-hour airport does not make every supplier’s counter available at every hour.
Prepare the collection checklistSIXT’s airport parking is on car park level 1 around letters E or F. Ask the agent for the exact bay, exit route and return turn before walking from the desk. Inspect glass, wheels, paint, tyres and fuel in the garage, where lighting may hide small damage. Confirm that the boot holds all luggage and that air conditioning works before joining a highway toward Manama. Another supplier’s car park may differ.
Check passengers and luggage fitA car only earns its days when the route needs it.
Authorised airport taxis operate from the arrivals inner curb. If the first stay is a walkable hotel or a set of meetings in Manama, compare the taxi and later city rental with airport collection, daily parking and unused days. Pre-booked ride services have a different meeting point, so follow the chosen transport’s instructions. A later city branch needs a fresh hours, vehicle and return check; it is not automatically interchangeable with BAH.
Compare airport and later pickupCompare payable rent in BHD, fuel, parking, optional protection and added drivers. Ask for the deposit amount and card type, then keep that refundable hold separate from daily spending and the damage excess as potential liability. Do not generalise one airport operator’s cash or card acceptance to the company you booked. If the itinerary ends in another Bahrain branch, confirm whether that branch accepts a one-way return and what the fee is.
Compare full rental costBahrain distances can look short while city time adds up.
A Manama base can combine business districts, waterfront and Bahrain Fort with parking near each actual stop. Ask the accommodation whether its garage has a dedicated guest bay and how to enter it without crossing a restricted service road. Driving to the airport immediately after an evening city appointment needs room for congestion, fuel and the garage return. If the trip stays within one district, a driver or taxi may be a simpler use of time.
A day toward Riffa or Bahrain International Circuit needs a separate fuel, opening-time and parking plan from central Manama sightseeing. Check whether a visit is ticketed or affected by an event before committing a rental day. Keep the route domestic unless the rental company has expressly approved a border movement. The visible King Fahd Causeway on a map is not permission to take the vehicle into Saudi Arabia.
Check a different returnMore size is only helpful if passengers or gear need it.
For an island tour, good cooling, a comfortable driving position and enclosed boot space can matter more than a premium badge. Load the actual luggage, check child seats and adjust mirrors before leaving the level-1 car park. A compact car may make Manama parking easier if it still fits the group. Check fuel level, tyre condition and the spare or repair kit at handover rather than discovering a problem on a hot road.
Check passengers and luggage fitThe person taking a longer southern drive may not be the person who booked. Add all drivers and confirm that each licence and age meets the operator’s terms. Ask for the roadside contact and any exclusions on unsurfaced access roads. SIXT’s Bahrain agreement prohibits cross-border rental; another company’s policy needs its own written check. Do not rely on informal assurance from a travel companion at a causeway checkpoint.
Traffic authority procedure and supplier release are separate.
Bahrain’s traffic services include approval or stamping of a foreign international licence for visitors without residency, with original international and domestic licences among the stated conditions. Confirm whether that procedure applies to this driver and journey before travel. The rental branch separately checks originals, identity, age and card rules. An IDP alone does not replace the underlying licence, and a permitted driver does not automatically qualify for every rental class.
SIXT Bahrain’s rental terms do not allow a car to cross the border. If Saudi Arabia is essential, choose an operator that offers the exact journey and obtain written vehicle permission, insurance, driver documents and any fee before paying. A one-way domestic booking is a different service from crossing the causeway. Ask the supplier about any toll or road charge only for the roads actually planned, and keep the written agreement accessible.
Passenger drop-off is not the rental return.
Navigate to Bahrain Airport car parking and the SIXT zone near letters E and F, then follow the current bay and key directions supplied at pickup. The arrivals desk is not itself a vehicle parking space. Refuel to the contracted level, photograph the car and gauge, and request a condition record. Another brand may use a different bay or inspection point, so do not leave its car in SIXT spaces.
Allow for Manama traffic, a missed airport ramp, fuel, level-1 parking, luggage transfer and check-in. A late flight or early return should be matched to the specific company’s hours and any unattended key procedure in advance. Keep the return receipt, photos and agreement until charges and the refundable hold have settled. If the vehicle will go to a city branch instead, ensure that branch is named and priced in the reservation.
