Corfu car hire

Corfu car hire should follow the arrival and the first stay. CFU has rental operators in public arrivals, while a New Port ferry arrival uses a separate port booking and a named branch or meeting point. A short opening in Corfu Town may suit a bus, taxi or walking before collection; accommodation farther north, west or south may justify a car on arrival. Confirm the exact vehicle handover, parking at the first base and final return station. A ferry to Albania is an international crossing that needs separate rental permission if the car travels.

Choose your Corfu starting point

Corfu Airport

Best for: A flight followed by an island road leg

Use the selected arrivals operator and its vehicle bay; compare bus for a town first stay.

Corfu Port

Best for: A ferry arrival with driving beyond town

Follow the booked branch address or meeting point after disembarkation, not any berth.

Match the vehicle handover to the arrival

A flight desk and a ferry branch do not share an address.

CFU after a flight

Corfu Airport has named rental operators in public arrivals. Read the chosen offer for the counter, car park and return entrance. A first night outside Corfu Town may make an immediate car useful. If the first stay is in the walkable town centre, compare the bus or a taxi and a later rental with the cost of keeping a parked car. Check counter hours for the actual arrival rather than assuming terminal opening means desk opening.

New Port after a ferry

A New Port arrival calls for a port booking with its own landside instructions. Enterprise has a branch at 50 Eleftheriou Venizelou; that street address is not a claim that keys are handed over at every ferry berth. Check the vessel exit, the walk or transfer to the named branch and its operating hours. Keep a working phone number if the ferry schedule changes.

Decide whether town days need a car

The first useful rental day may begin after a Corfu Town stay.

Walkable town opening

Corfu Town can be explored on foot while a rental car may require a separate legal parking place. Ask the accommodation about loading, overnight parking and any access restriction before collecting. Compare the airport bus or port transfer and later pickup with a full period of rent and parking. The later branch must be a real bookable location, not assumed hotel delivery.

Compare pickup timing

Accommodation beyond town

For a stay toward Paleokastritsa or farther south, a car can avoid arranging repeated transfers, but check the first base's driveway and parking before booking. Choose the category for passengers and bags as well as the roads and bays likely to be used. A larger car may help luggage yet be harder to place in narrow village parking. Verify child seats and boot fit at the actual handover.

Check vehicle and luggage fit

Use the island length in the plan

A north and south day is more than a short town transfer.

North and west

A Paleokastritsa or northern coast base changes the value of collecting at CFU or the New Port. Plan the first road leg after inspection, refuelling information and a check of hotel access. Avoid stacking multiple distant stops onto an arrival day. If you start at the port and leave by air, select CFU as a quoted return station before buying the ferry and flight combination.

South and east

A southern stay may make the car useful from the start, but do not assume the fastest route crosses every scenic village safely. Check the accommodation approach and legal parking. Give more time for the return from the far side of the island, particularly if the final departure is a ferry. Fuel and vehicle inspection belong in that buffer. Use live road conditions when the route is uncertain.

Separate island driving from border travel

An international ferry changes the rental permission question.

Corfu to Saranda

Ferries link Corfu with Albania, but a passenger ticket does not authorize a Greek hire car to cross the border. Check whether the selected rental company permits the country crossing, vehicle ferry and insurance coverage in writing. If those conditions are not met, return the Corfu car and arrange onward transport separately. Confirm the port and border document requirements for the actual journey.

Other island ferry trips

Taking any hired car on a ferry requires the selected supplier's approval and suitable cover, and the return station must still be on the agreement. Hertz Greece requires prior written approval for its vehicles. A foot passenger crossing with return before boarding may avoid these questions. Compare ferry fare, extra cover, one way charge and the days the car would otherwise sit unused.

Review hire car ferry conditions

Compare the complete Corfu rental period

A car used on some days should be priced against transfers on the rest.

Charges and card hold

Read the selected offer for taxes, fuel, mileage, security hold, accepted card, excess, extra drivers, child seats and any different station return. The hold and damage excess are different figures. A lower daily rate may be offset by several parked days, a port handover charge or a nonstandard return. Use the exact branch and dates rather than assuming island wide terms.

Compare the full Corfu cost

Inspect for the actual route

Check tyres, wheels, lights, fuel and existing marks before leaving the rental area. A beach approach or rough lane can create damage outside ordinary cover; an SUV badge does not change the contract. Keep the supplier's roadside number and legal parking options. If an intended access road is unsuitable, leave the car at a permitted place and continue by another method.

Finish at the airport or port actually booked

Different departures need different handback instructions.

Airport flight

Save the provider's CFU rental return entrance, bay and key process while still at the collection counter. Plan fuel, traffic, inspection and walking back to departures. A port pickup with an airport drop is a different station return and needs to appear in the offer. Take final condition and fuel photographs at the assigned bay and retain the handback record.

Port ferry

For a New Port departure, confirm whether the branch receives the car at its street address or an agreed port parking point. Do not leave it near the ferry terminal without instructions. A ferry or cruise can use a particular passenger exit, so keep the booking contact available. Allow time for a final inspection and boarding. An airport booking does not imply a free port return.

Corfu rental questions

Is Corfu Airport pickup the same as New Port pickup?

No. They have separate search locations and return instructions.

Do not assume so. Follow the exact branch address or meeting point in the selected offer.

Should I rent for Corfu Town days?

Compare the town transfer and later pickup with the full hire period and legal parking.

Can a Corfu hire car go to Albania?

Only if the chosen supplier permits the border crossing, ferry and cover for that exact journey.

Can I collect at the port and return at the airport?

Only when the airport return is quoted and included in the selected booking.
