Málaga María Zambrano
Best for: Arriving by train before a road trip
Select the rail pickup and check the named Vialia office and car park route.
Málaga María Zambrano is a practical place to collect a car when your train ends in the city and the next leg is a Costa del Sol drive. SIXT is inside the Vialia building near the Work Hub; Enterprise is in Vialia's rental area by the station and Barceló Hotel entrance. They have different parking and key-return instructions. Centauro is outside Vialia at Calle Mendívil 10, Local 1, and its return car park is at Paseo de los Tilos 11. Book the railway station pickup itself, allow time to walk from the platform to the named office, and check the actual return bay before leaving. If you land at Málaga Airport and plan to drive immediately, an airport pickup avoids taking the C1 train into María Zambrano first.

Best for: Arriving by train before a road trip
Select the rail pickup and check the named Vialia office and car park route.
Best for: Driving straight from a flight
Choose the airport route for terminal collection instead of making a separate transfer into the city.
Selected city branches and collection arrangements. Check current hours and availability before booking. Your selected offer and voucher identify the booked branch.
Use entrance 2 and level -2 for return; the out-of-hours key box is at column G9 in that parking level.
For after-hours return, Enterprise directs drivers to entrance 2, Floor 2, with its key box next to the office. Follow Enterprise's own floor signage, not the SIXT route.
Return to Centauro parking at Paseo de los Tilos 11, Edificio Indocar, 29006 Málaga, not to the Vialia bays used by SIXT and Enterprise.
The station and Vialia shopping centre share a building, but the selected desk may be inside Vialia or on a nearby street.
For SIXT, leave the platforms toward the hall and follow the parking corridor beside the information desk to the Work Hub area. From the Cercanías side, the operator directs you through the main hall toward the parking signs. Enterprise places its office in the Vialia rental area near the station entrance and Barceló Hotel. Check the name printed on your booking before following a different logo or heading down to a car bay.
Centauro places its Málaga train station office at Calle Mendívil 10, Local 1. From the main station exit, turn left and then left again into Mendívil. This is a station-area office outside the Vialia counters; follow the Centauro address on the reservation rather than stopping at the SIXT or Enterprise desk.
María Zambrano connects long-distance services, the C1 and C2 suburban lines, buses and metro. Treat the arrival time as the start of a walk, documentation check and vehicle inspection, not the time your car is already on the road. Keep your licence, lead-driver card and booking details accessible, then photograph existing marks, the fuel or charge level and the bay position before leaving Vialia.
Compare Spanish pickup regionsMatch the pickup to the mode on which you arrive and the first drive you actually need.
If your train ends at María Zambrano, a station rental avoids an extra trip to AGP just to collect a vehicle. It is especially useful when the hotel stay has ended and you are leaving Málaga for a multi-stop coast or inland route. Choose the supplier's railway branch in the search, because a Málaga Airport quote is a different collection contract even when the same company operates both places.
Compare rail and airport timingThe C1 Cercanías connects Málaga Airport with María Zambrano. That makes a city-first stay possible without paying for idle rental days, but it adds a transfer if you intend to drive straight from the flight. An airport branch may be the simpler start for immediate coast travel, while the station suits a later handover after time in town. Compare actual pickup hours, baggage, total rental days and return location.
Check Málaga Airport collectionThe route choice determines whether to head along the coast or make an inland start.
For a Costa del Sol itinerary, load bags and set the destination before moving out of the station parking. A coastal drive with several resort stops needs realistic time for local access, parking and luggage checks; a quoted car category does not tell you whether all bags fit out of sight. If the first night is still in central Málaga, decide whether you need the car that day or can start the rental later.
When the plan goes beyond the city, use Spain's official traffic information for incidents and restrictions on the chosen corridor. A route toward inland Andalucía can feel different from a short coastal transfer, especially after an evening train. Decide the first overnight and pickup time together; avoid making the arrival day depend on a long drive, a late office handover and an untested vehicle all working perfectly.
Check live Spanish trafficA practical luggage check matters more than a model badge on a station quote.
For two travellers using Málaga as a starting point, a compact car can simplify car-park manoeuvres. A larger party, child seats or several rigid cases may need a different category. Search the passenger and bag count honestly, then check the actual supplied vehicle before signing away the handover. If bags would remain visible in the cabin, reconsider the class or reduce what travels by road.
Check passenger and luggage fitAutomatic transmission, child seats and additional drivers can change the actual offer and collection time. Do not infer a particular model, gearbox or permitted route from a category image. Ask about any special road, ferry or cross-border plan before payment if it matters to the trip. A one-way return to another city also belongs in the quote at the start rather than being raised at the station car park.
The useful comparison is the same collection point, return point and usable hours across offers.
Check the lead driver's accepted payment card, deposit, included damage waiver and excess, mileage rule and fuel or charge requirement. Add any extra driver or child seat to the same calculation. Enterprise's Spanish branch terms include a variable deposit and one-way fees, which is why a daily headline rate cannot settle the cost decision. Keep the rental agreement and initial vehicle photos until the return is closed.
Compare total rental costsParking at a Málaga hotel, tolls where your chosen road uses them, and supplier administration for road charges can all affect the final bill. Do not assume that a quoted category gives permission for an unpaved detour or travel into another country. If the trip crosses a border or returns somewhere other than María Zambrano, get the written supplier terms and price for exactly that plan before collecting.
The return approach depends on the operator: Vialia and Centauro use different car parks.
SIXT directs drivers to Calle Mendívil 11, entrance 2, then level -2 and its marked spaces. Its after-hours key safe is on that level at column G9. Enterprise also uses the Vialia parking entrance on Mendívil with Floor 2 and a key box next to its office. These instructions are brand-specific: save the booked operator's return page and follow its signs rather than treating the two floor numbers as interchangeable.
Centauro directs returns to its parking at Paseo de los Tilos 11, Edificio Indocar, 29006 Málaga. Save that separate return address before leaving the office. Do not follow the Vialia level instructions for SIXT or Enterprise, and confirm any out-of-hours key procedure in the selected Centauro contract.
Allow time to find entrance 2, park in the correct company bay, remove bags and document the condition and fuel or charge level. SIXT asks for the ticket with the key on return; Enterprise's after-hours procedure also uses the parking ticket and a drop box. Check whether your booking accepts an unattended return, and keep the final receipt or confirmation. A train departure is a poor moment to discover that the bay is in another level.
A station search should reflect the full rail-to-road plan, including the return.
Set Málaga railway station as pickup, enter the time you can realistically reach the branch after the train, and use the same station as return unless your journey ends elsewhere. Review the named supplier location and parking instructions before paying. If your result instead points to Calle Mendívil outside the concourse, that can still be a station-area handover; use the address on the selected offer rather than assuming every desk shares one door.
If your trip starts with a flight or ends with one, compare an AGP pickup or drop-off as a different booking. The cheapest station price is not useful if the extra transfer and a one-way charge outweigh the timing benefit. Keep your train and flight margins visible beside the rental period, then take the offer whose actual pickup and return locations fit those movements.
SIXT is in Vialia near the Work Hub. Enterprise is in Vialia's rental area near the station entrance and Barceló Hotel; follow the brand on your reservation. Centauro is outside Vialia at Calle Mendívil 10, Local 1.
Both named operators use parking access from Calle Mendívil 11, but SIXT specifies entrance 2 and level -2, while Enterprise uses entrance 2 and Floor 2. Follow your supplier's own marked bays. Centauro returns to Paseo de los Tilos 11, a separate car park.
Search that exact one-way pairing. Acceptance and any charge depend on the supplier and offer, so do not assume an airport booking automatically includes a station return.
Choose your dates and compare the total price, pickup arrangements and rental conditions. Check the branch and return plan before confirming an offer.
