If your booking names Locauto at Venice Mestre station, walk to the office opposite platform 1 before seeking the car. Its Smart Check-In information places the vehicle parking on the fourth floor, called Piano Verde, of Parkinstation in Via Trento. From the station exit, turn left for the short walk to the multistorey car park. Confirm the actual vehicle bay at handover and inspect the car before loading bags. A booking for a Venice airport branch is a different pickup.
Use the correct SIXT building
SIXT's Mestre station office is on the ground floor of the multistorey Saba Stazione di Mestre car park in Via Stazione 10, to the right when leaving the rail station. Its assigned vehicles are by the elevators on the fourth floor. Do not treat this as the Locauto parking address just because both are near the railway. Check the operator and branch name on the confirmation, especially if you arrived at Venezia Santa Lucia on the island and need to travel back to Mestre first.

Finish the Venice stay first
Piazzale Roma is Venice's road terminal; beyond it the historic city is reached on foot or by water transport. A car collected while you are sleeping in the lagoon can add mainland or terminal parking costs without helping with daily movement. If the train trip ends at Mestre and you are driving directly to a Veneto base, same-day station pickup avoids a separate airport transfer. Set the start time after your planned rail arrival, platform exit, counter checks and luggage collection, not to the train's scheduled minute.

Avoid Mestre's controlled centre
Central Mestre has a restricted traffic zone with electronically controlled access. The station rental area is a practical mainland departure point, but a short route through the centre can still cross a restricted gate. Navigate from the actual car park exit to a legal road, and check an accommodation address against the municipal ZTL map before driving in. A rental agreement or hotel booking is not automatic permission. Ask the property about its authorised arrival route if bags need to be unloaded.
Treat Venice as a parking decision
If you return to visit the lagoon with the car, the drive ends at a road terminal such as Piazzale Roma and parking is then a separate charge. Water transport and walking carry you onward. Decide whether keeping the hire car for those days makes sense before choosing a rental length. Do not assume that a Mestre hotel parking space, a station pickup or a road bridge gives vehicle access through Venice's historic streets. Start a Veneto circuit after the lagoon stay when possible.
