Honolulu Airport car rental

HNL car rental collection depends on where baggage arrives. Terminal 2 claims 19 to 31 can walk to the Consolidated Rent-A-Car facility opposite claims 26 and 31. Terminal 1 claims 6 to 11, Terminal 2 international arrivals and Terminal 3 use designated rental shuttles. CONRAC counters are on level 2. A booked off-airport operator uses a separate prearranged pickup at the west end of CONRAC. Confirm the exact company and return bay before driving away.

Level 2 counters in the Consolidated Rent-A-Car facility

  • CONRAC operators

Terminal 2 claims 19 to 31 can walk; other named arrivals use the airport rental shuttle. Return floor varies by brand.

  • SIXT Honolulu Airport

Follow SIXT Car Rental Returns signs to level 4; staff collect the key during staffed hours.

Choose the CONRAC route by baggage claim

HNL has more than one arrival route to rental counters.

Walk from central Terminal 2 claims

If your bags arrive at Terminal 2 claims 19 to 31, follow the pedestrian route to the CONRAC entrances facing claims 26 and 31. Go to level 2 for the on-airport counters. Do not assume an international arrival uses the same convenient walk; claims 16 to 18 have designated shuttle stops. Confirm your actual baggage claim before choosing a path with suitcases.

Take the shuttle from the other arrivals

Terminal 1 claims 6 to 11, Terminal 2 international arrivals and Terminal 3 use designated rental-car shuttle points. The airport service runs from 04:00 to midnight, while individual desks keep their own hours. Off-airport rentals require prior arrangement and pickup at PRE-ARRANGED 4 after reaching CONRAC. Never substitute a general terminal curb for that meeting point.

Check Oahu luggage fit

Plan separate Hawaii island rentals

Compare Oahu and Maui as separate flight and rental legs. Pick the airport for the island being driven, account for city-only days and parking, and keep the return aligned with that island’s departure flight.

Use the named company instructions at CONRAC

A specific supplier example must not be applied to every counter.

SIXT has a confirmed location and return floor

SIXT is at 300 Rodgers Blvd, first counter on the right inside CONRAC. Its current branch hours are 06:00 to 23:00 daily. At return, follow Car Rental Returns to SIXT on level 4. Its advertised 24-hour return does not establish the unattended key process, so confirm that procedure with the branch or booking.

Inspect the assigned vehicle

For any brand, bring the original licence, identification, reservation and required payment card. Check additional-driver and young-driver rules in the selected agreement. Photograph all sides, glass, wheels, fuel and mileage and test the suitcase fit before leaving the garage. A category description does not guarantee a particular model or boot shape.

Decide whether Waikiki days need a car

The first two nights can change the sensible rental start.

Compare parking with later collection

If the first stay is mainly Waikiki, include accommodation parking and unused hire days before collecting immediately. A later named Oahu branch may work, but confirm its address, hours and transfer cost. Airport pickup makes more sense when the first accommodation or next activity requires a drive across Oahu. Compare the full journey with luggage, not only the car rate.

Compare immediate and later pickup

Keep the hire on Oahu

Honolulu and Kahului serve different islands. A car collected at HNL cannot simply be driven to a Maui hotel or returned at OGG. Price separate island rentals around the actual flights, and leave an inspection and airport transfer before flying onward. Any unusual shipping or inter-island vehicle plan requires explicit supplier approval.

Plan a separate Maui pickup

Add Hawaii Island as a separate rental

If the holiday continues to Hawaii Island, choose the next flight airport and book a separate car. KOA serves a Kona and west-coast arrival; its brand shuttle process differs from this airport’s pickup. Plan the longer paved-road legs and luggage before choosing a car rather than carrying the first island’s rental assumption into the next booking.

Plan a Kona airport rental

Plan a separate Kauai arrival

A Kauai flight needs its own Lihue car booking and departure return. Compare the selected company’s airport booth, depot transfer or off-airport shuttle before setting the first driving day. The island road route and your accommodation base determine useful rental days; an Oahu or Maui car does not provide this airport pickup.

Compare the whole Oahu rental cost

Parking and card conditions may outweigh a daily-rate difference.

Read the booked excess and card terms

Check taxes, airport fees, card hold, damage liability, fuel, additional drivers, child seats and any different-branch return. Make sure the named driver has the required card and adequate limit. Compare optional cover against the actual excess rather than assuming the headline price includes every protection.

Choose a vehicle for the real load

Count people, cases and child seats for the arrival journey. If a group plans beach gear or a longer Oahu loop, allow space without assuming an SUV is necessary. Vehicle class still does not grant permission for every track or private access road. Keep bags out of view when parked and follow local signs.

Estimate Oahu hire cost

Plan Oahu roads around time and access

A small island does not make every drive short.

Choose the first driving leg before booking

An airport to accommodation transfer, north-shore outing and multiple-stop island day place different demands on pickup time. Check destination parking and visitor access for the places actually planned. Do not build a post-flight circuit from a list of attractions without daylight and fatigue allowance.

Separate licence and rental permissions

International visitors should check Hawaii driving requirements for their licence and any required international permit. The rental company separately decides age, cards, extra drivers and permitted roads. A route shown by navigation is not evidence that an unpaved or restricted section is allowed by the agreement.

Use the right rental shuttle stop and hours

Terminal number alone is less precise than the baggage-claim exit.

Find the terminal-specific curb

At Terminal 1, the rental shuttle stop is on the ground-level median across the middle elevators between claims 8 and 9. At Terminal 2 international arrivals, use the median across claim 18; Terminal 3 boards outside its building. Keep the selected company name ready before boarding. A person arriving at Terminal 2 claims 19 to 31 can walk instead.

Plan for an unusual departure hour

The airport rental shuttle operates 04:00 to midnight. That is a transport service window, not a promise of staffed counter service or an accepted return at every hour. SIXT advertises a 24-hour return but does not establish the exact unattended key steps on the airport page. Obtain those steps from the branch or confirmed reservation if the flight falls outside ordinary staffed hours.

Find the booked company bay before the flight

Terminal drop-off lanes are not rental-car returns.

For SIXT, follow its level 4 return

SIXT renters follow Car Rental Returns to its level 4 area at CONRAC. A staffed agent takes the key during the branch’s staffed hours. If returning outside them, obtain the current key and parking procedure directly; no specific unattended box was established. Other operators may use different floors or signs.

Allow the transfer back to departures

An on-airport renter exits CONRAC on foot or by rental shuttle based on the departure terminal. The airport shuttle operates 04:00 to midnight, so an unusual flight time needs a confirmed transfer plan. Off-airport returns go to the contracted depot first. Photograph final fuel and condition, keep receipts, and check the closing bill.
