The catch is that operators will not accept pick-ups after 9pm, so if your flight is delayed past then, contact your rental company directly. Launceston Airport is 15 km south of the city on the Evandale Main Road.

If you pay for parking on foot, pay machines are outside the Arrivals area and in the P2 car park, or you can tap and go at the boom gate on exit.

The main day trip from Launceston. Private cars cannot use Dove Lake Road while the shuttle is running, so plan to use the shuttle ($15.50 per adult without an Icon Parks Pass). Cradle Mountain is an Icon park, so the 24-hour parks pass does not cover it.

Freycinet is the gateway to Wineglass Bay. The lookout is a walk of 60 to 90 minutes return, and a parks pass is required for entry.

Private vehicle access on Dove Lake Road is not permitted during shuttle operating times. Outside those hours there are nine private parking spaces plus one disability space at Dove Lake. Campervans, caravans, trailers and similar are never allowed on the road.
Mid-May to September the shuttle runs 8:45am to 4pm. From December to February it runs 8:10am to 7pm. Check the end time before you plan a late walk.
If you buy a parks pass online for a hire car and do not have the registration yet, select HIRE in the registration section. The Holiday Vehicle Pass covers one vehicle and up to 7 passengers for up to 2 months.
Wallabies and possums are most active at dawn and dusk, when official advice is to slow down.
The default limit on gravel roads is 80 km/h. Check your rental agreement for what it says about unsealed roads before turning off the main route.
