Can I return a hire car to a different location?
Some rental companies offer one-way hire on selected routes. The locations in this tool are recorded pickup points, not confirmed one-way pairs. Check the requested return location, dates and full rental conditions in the booking form.
Is there always a one-way fee?
Fees and rates depend on the company and route. Read the full quote, including charges payable at pickup or return, before comparing it with a return hire. This tool does not estimate a fee.
Can I return the car in another country?
Only if the rental company permits that specific international return. Permission to cross a border is a separate condition and can depend on the pickup country, vehicle and countries visited. Get written confirmation before booking.
What if the trip includes a ferry?
Check ferry use, insurance and return permission with the rental company. Separate rentals on each side may be a better option, including trips between mainland Australia and Tasmania.
